Calgary is home to a significant and growing urban Indigenous population. According to the 2021 Census, approximately 41,355 Indigenous people live in Calgary, representing 3.2% of the city’s population (Statistics Canada, 2021). This includes First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals who have moved to urban centers for education, employment, and access to services.
An increasing number of the Urban Indigenous community face disproportionate housing challenges due to the housing affordability gap.
Why this matters
Housing is not just shelter - it is a foundation for health, education, and cultural continuity. A place for connection, family support, community cohesion, safety and stability.
This is what we aim to provide - dignified housing for everyone!
